Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration

Please join APEC at our 25th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration this coming January 14th. This year we are stressing King’s messages about economic justice, messages that resonate today through the Occupy Wall Street movement. America should have listened to him 45 years ago!
The celebration will start with a 1:30pm march down Main Street, Abingdon from Charles Wesley United Methodist to Abingdon United Methodist. Feel free to bring a sign with your own message or we will have signs for you to carry. At 2:00 pm the celebration will begin at Abingdon United Methodist. Afterwards, there will be a reception in the fellowship hall.
The most important thing is to attend the march and celebration and bring a friend; be inspired by the music and by the words of MLK. Here are some other ways you can help:
This year we have YARD SIGNS (like the ones you see before elections) that promote the celebration. Cinny Poppen and I can give you one or more signs. You can contact me at 475-3191 or bboone@bvunet.net or contact Cinny at 492-0303 or goldenpop60@hotmail.com and we’ll arrange to get you a sign. Please help us put these signs up all around the region and especially throughout Abingdon.
Send a notice of the meeting to any listserv you belong to our just to your email friends. Link to our facebook entry.
If you can, bring some finger food or drink for our “potluck” reception after the celebration.
Thanks!
Buckey Boone
